Denny’s Donates $2 Million In Fight Against Childhood Hunger In The U.S.

Funds raised will help to provide 20 million meals to children in need through No Kid Hungry®

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Jan. 29, 2018) –As part of its ongoing commitment to help end childhood hunger in the U.S., Denny’s has announced it will donate $2 million to No Kid Hungry® as part of its 2017 fundraising efforts. The brand’s contribution–which was a record-breaking amount and doubled the previous year’s total–will help provide 20 million meals to children in need across the country. Since its partnership with No Kid Hungry began in 2011, Denny’s has raised more than $6.3 million for the cause.

“As a company who feeds people for a living, we feel it is our responsibility to help feed children in our nation that start each day food insecure, so we are honored to make this significant donation to No Kid Hungry,” said John Miller, Denny’s president and chief executive officer. “In addition to the generosity of our guests and the support of our franchisees and valued suppliers, our team members showed an immense amount of dedication throughout this campaign. Thanks to these contributions, we have the opportunity to continue the fight against childhood hunger by providing children in need with healthy meals year-round.”

The 2017 campaign ran from October through early December, with over 1,500 Denny’s restaurants participating nationwide through in-store displays, signage, buttons and more. To thank guests for their support, Denny’s provided $12 in restaurant coupons in exchange for each $3 donation made in-restaurant. For those guests looking for additional ways to contribute, donations could also be made through Denny’s new online and mobile ordering platform ‘Denny’s on Demand’ and online at dennysnokidhungry.com. Additionally, the brand donated $1 each time fans commented with their favorite breakfast emoji combination as part of the diner’s “Grand Slamoji” social video.
