Denny’s Participated in 2017 Corporate Equality Index

America’s Diner Scores 75 on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Fourteenth Annual Scorecard on LGBT Workplace Equality

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Dec. 13, 2016) – Denny’s (Nasdaq:DENN) earned a score of 75 on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Denny’s score reflects a commitment to LGBT workplace equality, with respect to tangible policies, benefits, and practices.

“At Denny’s we firmly believe in celebrating, promoting and embracing the diversity of all our employees,” said John Miller, Denny’s president and chief executive officer. “We strive to ensure that diversity remains top-of-mind at every level of the organization and that we remain a champion of fairness and equality for everyone.”

The 2017 CEI rated a total of 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.

Denny’s is proud to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to equal opportunity employment with more than 5% of Denny’s franchised restaurants owned by members of the LGBT community. The equality rating scorecard shows that Denny’s received 15 out of a possible 15 points for equal opportunity employment policies including sexual orientation and gender identity for all operations.

In addition, Denny’s is pleased to support and sponsor a variety of initiatives such as the League of United Latin American Citizen’s Emerge Latino Conference and the San Antonio Human Rights Campaign. Plus, Denny’s Franchisee Dawn Lafreeda, one of the brand’s largest single-owner franchisees in the system, received the Equality Award at the 14thAnnual Human Rights Campaign Gala and Auction, one of the largest LGBTQ fundraising events in San Antonio.
