Savoy Magazine Names Three of Denny’s Own as 2016 Top Influential Women in Corporate America

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (October 27, 2016) – Denny’s (Nasdaq:DENN) is thrilled to announce that Savoy Magazine has named April Kelly-Drummond, Brenda J. Lauderback, and Laysha Ward to its 2016 Most Influential Women in Corporate America list, which will be featured in a special section of Savoy Magazine’s Fall 2016 issue. As Savoy Magazine prides itself on advocating for business professionals of color who display exceptional work, the women are being acknowledged for their accomplishments and business presence within the Company as well as their display of commitment to the community.

April Kelly-Drummond has served as Denny’s Director of Diversity Affairs since March 2008. Ms. Kelly-Drummond joined Denny’s in 1994 as an executive assistant to the Company’s Chief Diversity Officer and spent a significant amount of time on the road assisting in the Company’s diversity initiatives. Today her role as the Director of Diversity Affairs and Multicultural Engagement at Denny's, Ms. Kelly-Drummond serves as the key liaison with major civil rights organizations and builds relationships with local, regional and national minority organizations. Prior to being named Director of Diversity Affairs, Ms. Kelly-Drummond held various leadership roles in community relations, public affairs and diversity within the Company. Ms. Kelly-Drummond sits on the board for a local nonprofit organization and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational development from College of Charleston.

Brenda Lauderback joined Denny’s board of directors in May 2005 and has served as Board Chair since May 2016. Ms. Lauderback has more than 25 years of experience in the retail industry and more than 35 collective years of experience on public company boards, including serving on audit, compensation and governance committees. From 1995 until her retirement in 1998, she was president of the Wholesale and Retail Group of Nine West Group, Inc., a footwear wholesaler and distributor. She previously was the President of the Wholesale Division of U.S. Shoe Corporation, a footwear manufacturer and distributor and was a Vice President/General Merchandise Manager of Dayton Hudson Corporation, a retailer. Ms. Lauderback is a director of Wolverine Worldwide, Inc. and Select Comfort Corporation. Within the last five years, Ms. Lauderback also served as a director of Big Lots, Inc. Ms. Lauderback is a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Leadership Fellow and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Robert Morris University in 1972. 

Laysha Ward joined Denny's board of Directors in January 2010. Ms. Ward also serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at Target Corporation since 2014. Prior to this role, she held the positions of President of Community Relations and Vice President of Community Relations at Target. In addition to her role on the board of directors at Denny’s, she serves as Board Chair of Corporation for National and Community Service and on the Executive Leadership Council, a national organization for African-American executives. She is part of several organizations including The Links, an international women's service organization, Aspen Institute’s Commission on No Child Left Behind, The Shriver Report, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Ms. Ward received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and a Master’s degree in Social Service Administration, Nonprofit Management and Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
