Three Denny’s Directors Named to Savoy Magazine’s Power 300: 2016 Most Influential Black Corporate Directors List

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (October 10, 2016) – Denny’s (Nasdaq:DENN) is pleased to announce that Savoy Magazine has named directors Brenda Lauderback, Laysha Ward and George Haywood to its Power 300: 2016 Most Influential Black Corporate Directors list. The list was featured in Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Black Corporate Directors issue which is the largest magazine, by pages, ever published targeting the African-American consumer on August 2, 2016.

The list is the Savoy Magazine’s most comprehensive, and recognizes the achievements of African-American executives, influencers and achievers in leadership and corporate-board positions. The publication is the leading African-American culture, business and lifestyle magazine and is an influential driver of positive cultural dialogue.

Brenda Lauderback joined Denny’s board of directors in May 2005 and has served as Board Chair since May 2016. Ms. Lauderback has more than 25 years of experience in the retail industry and more than 35 collective years of experience on public company boards, including serving on audit, compensation and governance committees. From 1995 until her retirement in 1998, she was president of the Wholesale and Retail Group of Nine West Group, Inc., a footwear wholesaler and distributor. She previously was the President of the Wholesale Division of U.S. Shoe Corporation, a footwear manufacturer and distributor and was a Vice President/General Merchandise Manager of Dayton Hudson Corporation, a retailer. Ms. Lauderback is a director of Wolverine Worldwide, Inc. and Select Comfort Corporation. Within the last five years, Ms. Lauderback also served as a director of Big Lots, Inc. She is a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Leadership Fellow and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Robert Morris University in 1972.

Laysha Ward has served on Denny’s board of directors since January 2010. She also serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer for Target and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Prior to Target, she held the role of Manager of Community Relations at Marshall Field’s Chicago, Inc. Additionally, Ms. Ward serves on the board of directors for the Advisory Board of the Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program and is a member of the Executive Leadership Council, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and The Links, an international woman’s service organization Ms. Ward received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University and a master’s degree in social services administration with an emphasis in management and public policy from the University of Chicago.

George Haywood joined Denny’s board of directors in September 2011. Mr. Haywood has been a Private Investor since 1998 and manages his own hedge fund. Previously, he held the role of director of corporate and high yield bond investments for the world’s third-largest hedge fund, Moore Capital Management, where he managed a portfolio of high-yield bonds and investment-grade corporate bonds in excess of $1 billion. He also serves as a Director of PingTone Communications, Inc., member of the Board of Directors of PingTones, Trustee of The New School, member of the Board of Trustees for New School University in New York, and a member of the Visiting Committee of Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor’s degree in biology from Harvard University.
